How Do You Adjust A Rolex Datejust Watch?
Rolex Datejust watches typically come with either an Oyster or a Jubilee bracelet, and both can be adjusted for a better fit. Some newer models have an Easylink comfort extension link, which allows you to lengthen the bracelet by approximately 5mm. This can be done by folding out the extension link.
For larger adjustments, you’ll need to remove or add links to the bracelet. This involves the use of a small screwdriver or a special tool to push out the pin in the direction of the arrow marked on the link. After removing or adding links, the pin should be reinserted in the opposite direction of the arrow.
However, it’s important to note that adjusting the bracelet yourself can potentially scratch or damage the watch if not done correctly. If you’re not comfortable doing it yourself, it’s recommended to take your watch to a Rolex service centre or a professional watchmaker to have the bracelet adjusted.
How Do You Set The Time On A Datejust?
The Datejust has a screw-down crown to enhance water resistance. To unscrew it, turn the crown counterclockwise until it pops out to the first position. You will then be able to pull the crown out and set the right position.
- Set the date: Pull the crown out to the second position and turn it counterclockwise until the desired date appears in the date window. Make sure not to adjust the date when the watch hands are between 9 PM and 3 AM, as doing so can damage the movement.
- Set the time: Pull the crown out to the third position. This will stop the second hand (this feature is known as hacking), allowing you to set the time precisely. Turn the crown to move the minute and hour hands to the desired time.
- Return the crown: Push the crown back in and turn it clockwise to screw it back into the case, ensuring the watch remains water-resistant.
